Talcum powder is made out of a substance called talc. The substance is very abundant in the earth and is very commonly found in all the parts of the world. It is a kind of a mineral which comes in a range of colours such as white, grey and green. Other than being used in talcum powder, talc is also used in the manufacture of paper, soap and chalk. You will also find some occurrences of talc being used in food additives. Talc is also seen in many other cleaning agents.

Talc is very abundant in countries like Turkey, Middle East and Oman. According to a study, it is said that when talc is mixed with other chemicals can cause cancer of lung and the skin.

People that do not know the answer should not comment.

Talc is simply a mineral. It is the softest natural substance known and ranks a paltry 1 on ohms hardness scale (diamond is the hardest NATURAL substance, ranking 10 on the scale)

It is not produced by man, it is simply mined, pulverised, cleaned and sold. It is largely unreactive, and can be used to absorb water, hence why people use it on their skin. The softness is what makes it an attractive product.
