The word circulation refers to the process of blood being moved from the heart to the brain and all the major organs in the body, and then the body's limbs. This process is carried out via blood vessels. The heart is the organ that controls circulation and it continues until the heart stops during cardiac arrest.

Circulation of blood is essential for our bodies and to ensure that we remain in good health. A number of serious health issues can result from poor circulation but a person can increase the flow of blood through their body naturally.

Below is some advice on how to do this.

  • Exercise daily
Exercise is good for everything, your general health and your circulation. Undergoing any kind of physical activity will help get your blood flowing. A lack of exercise can result in blood clots; just a simple light jog every day is perfect for improving circulation.

  • Yoga
Doing yoga every day is a great way to improve your circulation. Yoga involves mastering certain poses and stretches which are thought to have positive effects on your body. Videos on how to do yoga can be found on YouTube and there is tonnes of information available in books or online.

  • Vitamins

  • Avoid unhealthy habits
Bad habits such as drinking caffeine, eating junk food and of course smoking and drinking alcohol can worsen your circulation. Cutting out these bad habits and following the steps mentioned above will help with your circulation.
