Predicting is simple when it comes to science. Once you know everything that you need to about the experiment which you are going to do, all you need to do is thinking of a logical outcome for the test. This could be based on all the findings that you have, or it could simply be a feeling that you have with regards to what is going to happen. The idea of making predictions is to get you thinking and see if you have done the right equations which are going to give you the results you thought were going to happen. Without predicting in science all of the experiments which have been done throughout history would mean nothing as we would not understand them, we would simply be putting different mixtures together just because we could!

You are also going to find that if your prediction was correct, that you can adapt the experiment that you have done to see if you can make it bigger and better and use different materials which are going to give a completely different or a similar result. Predicting has enabled us to understand many different materials that we may not have known about before and we no longer have to take guesses with regards to what is going to happen. We can look at what has happened in the past and make a logical and educated prediction from it.

You will find that making predictions is going to be a lot easier than you first thought as long as you understand the experiment and know about the different materials which are going to be used and have been tried and tested before. You are going to be able to see what happens and to make a conclusion on what you have found and whether you were right or not.

Predicting in science is when you see what you know and put it with your hypothesis.
