Food is made through the process of photosynthesis, just like any
other plant. The difference between a cactus making food from another
plant is that cacti have their leaves reduced to sharp spines, and therefore,
their stem contains chlorophyll and photosynthesis takes place through
the stem.

Cactus plant uses its own spikes on thei body to make their own food because every flowering plant make their own food so that the cactus is a flowering plant that can make their own food .they need sunlight do do so.
