No it absolutely is not! The syrup from Canada or Great Britain - Rogers or Lyons Golden Cane Syrup has a sweet caramel taste to it - it is wonderful on ice cream, pancakes and toast, etc.
If you have a recipe that asks for Karo do not use the golden syrup mentioned above as they are not interchangeable. I am a Canadian - I know! Enjoy.
