China lies between latitudes 18° north and 54° north and longitudes 73° east and 135° east. China is located on the continent of Asia and is the third largest land mass in the world, beaten only by Russia and Canada in size. It is bordered by 14 other countries as well as the Pacific Ocean. Its border countries include Afghanistan, Bhutan, Burma, India, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Laos, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia and Vietnam. The best way to illustrate China's location is perhaps by observing a map, which can be found at - maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

China is probably best known for the Great Wall of China which is a must see for anyone travelling to the country and was voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It can be seen all the way from scattered remains in the Liaoning province to Ji Guan in the Gobi Desert.

As a country, China has many rules which need to be respected at all times. It has the feel of a very advanced country in parts, however, many of the regulations in place do not represent those of a developed country such as the US or UK. It is very important to research these rules and laws before entering the country to avoid trouble during your visit. Tight restrictions are in place for entering and leaving the country. For example, any medication you bring to China must be accompanied by a medical note from your doctor (a contact phone number should also be available).
