It is where the river ends and flows in to another body of water. It could be in a sea, an ocean or another river.

For Example the River Thames mouth is the sea the mouth is always the main river finally joining onto a Larger sea or ocean but on the other hand the source is where the river starts and the mouth is where the river ends. This beginning is called the Source of the river. Rivers flow downhill...  so as you would expect river sources are usually in hills or mountains.  Springs come rushing out of hillsides and a river begins. But it doesn't always happen like that. The picture on the left is the source of the River Thames in England. Nothing is rushing here.

The junction where a river meets the sea is called as the mouth of a river. Here the river water flows into the sea water. This completes the hydrological cycle. Usually, docks or harbours for ferries and fishing boats are seen at the mouth of a river. The Amazon River is known to be one with a greater flow than the other largest rivers combined. It is also known as The River Sea. After Nile in Africa, the Amazon is considered as the second longest river in the world. The Amazon Basin in Brazil which is a drainage area of the river is said to be the largest river system. It is believed that the Basin is so large that were it an independent nation, it would be the seventh largest in the world.
