0.62 gallons of water are collected per square foot of roof per inch of precipitation.  I.E. A 1000 s.f. Roof will collect 620 gallons of water for every inch of rain that falls on it.  Collecting rainwater is a good habit that America really needs to start getting behind.  The water management strategies in this country are backwards and embarrassing...
