Rainforest vegetation is basically of nine varieties, namely bromeliads, buttress roots, carnivorous plants, epiphytes, lianas, orchids, saprophytes, stilt/prop roots and strangler figs.

Rainforest trees are useful sources of commercially useful products like bamboo, banana/plantain, Brazil nuts, pineapples, cocoa beans, coconuts, ebony, mahogany, rosewood, redwood, teak, mangoes, oranges, grapes, guavas, berries, hibiscus, kapok, liana, orchids, dates, palm oil, periwinkles, rubber, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger.

Emergent trees are the tallest trees in the rainforest and grow upto a height of between 100 to 240 feet. The next level of trees comprises of trees that are between 60 and 130 feet tall and their upper canopy is home to many animals. The lower canopy consists of 60 feet tall trees. There is very little air movement at this level and it is a very humid climate. The forest floor layer is completely shaded and receives less than 1 per cent of sunlight.
