I wouldn't say they undertake the cultural or traditional norms. They study it with an impartial mind. Anthropology does not have its own concept of morals, 'good' or 'bad'. It looks at the different cultures' concept of these, among with other things.

Anthropological studies are different from the scientific studies in a way that it undertakes the cultural and traditional norms. In this way it becomes totally subjective as every culture is different from other and its practitioners practice in their own specific ways.
