Most types of engineering can offer good scope in India although competition is very high. There are a few certain fields which keep reoccurring in terms of the best fields to enter, some of which I will explain further. The one thing I would point out is that all areas of engineers in the country will be highly sought after but it will be those who are expert in their field and who excel in their area who will succeed.

Marine engineering is very big in India and is only increasing in its importance. Many of the colleges in India are introducing high quality courses in this area, and the country values this subject very highly. In terms of further information relating to this, the best place to get in touch with is the Institute of Marine Engineers India (www.imare.in/aboutus.html) or the Marine Engineering and Research Institute. Here you will be able to gain advice on training and information relating to how to get into the industry.

As with marine engineering, biomedical engineering is also an industry with a lot of scope. More and more universities in India are offering this as a course in its own right and employment is well paid. Good biomedical engineers are very sought after. A good website for further information is www.iitd.ac.in/center/cbme/

In addition to the above, aerospace engineering is becoming increasingly popular in India. It is regulated by NIT and ITT which are specialist engineering education systems in India. NIT give priority to those who have a local connection to the area where the university is based, and so incoming students are less likely to be accepted in such establishments. However, the ITT based schools will offer places to international applicants who excel in the entrance exam.

What do I personaly feel is, every branch you take has its own scope so choose the branch which you are talented at and never pick the branch which you feel has a good scope. So go for it.

There is much scope of soft engineering in India but I am going to tell you about marine engineering which is also one of the growing fields in India. This engineering course is related to construction and maintenance of the ships and other sailing vessels. A number of students are joining this engineering because of the job opportunities like jobs in Merchant Navy, Navy and manufacturing industries, offshore jobs, jobs on ports, government jobs in the Directorate General of Shipping and recruitments by shipping industries.

Well, as per my view, structural engineering has good scope in India. As we know there are many cities in India which are still developing and also building big malls.

If we see the advent of technology, computer science engineering and if we see things surrounding us then Petroleum engineering is catching its pace. In india, petroleum engineering is just a career option that is in a hot pursuit because of the money and growth that it offers, moreover the colleges offering such courses are less in numbers.
