The clostridium difficile are gram positive bacteria and they live in soil but they are always present in our intestine and does not harm. They can grow as pathogen when you use antibiotics for long duration. They can  be transmitted though contacts with utensils if you don't clean hands after passing stools but it is not necessary that they cause problem in you as they are already present in your body. Only antibiotics for long duration use can convert them to pathogen.
