Turgidity is actually the pressure of the cell contents against the cell wall in plant cells. It is determined by the water content in the vacuoles. Turgidity is very important for plants and bacterias. It helps in keeping the plant rigid and upright. It also results in bursting of a cell. It saves the plants from wilting.
