Sodium designated by the Symbol Na on the periodic table has a melting point of 97.81 º C (Degrees Celsius). There is however an error ranges of +/- .03ºC. The boiling point is higher at 882.9ºC.

The chemical element sodium has an atomic mass of 22.98976928 and atomic number of 11. The alkaline metal was first isolated in 1807 by Sir Humphry Davy. Sir Humphry managed this feat by getting an electric current to pass through molten Sodium Hydroxide. The most well known compound of sodium is Sodium Chloride or common salt. It is also present in the oceans and seas of the world in large quantities as salt water.

Sodium in its individual state is reactive and so has to be stored away from air in some sort of inert environment. This is done successfully by placing it in Kerosene.
