Many pathological condition can develop due to altitude sickness because of low air pressure at high altitude. Persons on high altitude can have pulmonary edema, cerebral edema, headache, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, pins and needles, dizziness, loss of appetite, sleep disturbances, peripheral edema, rapid pulse, dry cough, drowsiness, fever, gradual loss of consciousness, and unsteady gait.
