A region is a geographical term which is used for a specific space or area like a river basin, a water body or a mountainous area. A region is generally referred as a collection of small units of land so a specific location in England will be a specific region.

This concept is similar to a state but in a provincial system the central authority has more power but the state will still have more authority.
