1 metric ton (tonne) = 1000 kilograms
1 cm^3 of water at standard temperature and pressure = 1 milliliter = 1 gram
1000 milliliters (cm^3) of water at standard temp & press = 1 liter = 1 kilogram
1 gallon = 231 cubic inches
1 cu in = 2.54 cm^3
Since density is .87gr/cm^3 divide that into 1000 to find cm^3 of volume
Divide that by 2.54^3 to convert to cu in
Divide that by 231 to convert to gallons Or:
1 gallon = 3.785411784 liters
Divide 1000 by .87 to find volume and divide that by 3.785411784 to convert to gallons
