Well, people are chopping down less trees, people are walking more or cycling, and people in factories are trying to use more electrical equipment to stop the rise of smoke!

Global warming can not be stopped but we can slow it down by reducing the amount of greenhouse gas being released
Almost everything that can be done to help prevent global warming is being done. But, only in a very small scale. I believe that the only way to dramatically slow global warming is to have a HUGE portion of the worlds population to actively take part in helping the environment everyday in every way possible.
Cut back on the use of fossil fuels and carbon dioxide emissions.
There is being many things done about global warming such as Putting in wind generators, florescent light bulbs, gas powered vehicles instead of petrol, using green bags instead of plastic bags
Change the filter in your a/c during heavy usage once a month (winter and summer) Change your litebulbs to floresent(cuts greenhouse gas due to used broken litebulbs} and saves you $. Tell the losers in your neighborhood to stop huffing freon from their neighbors air conditioning system it will give them blue lung they could die a sudden cold death. DON'T DRIVE WALK.
This is strictly a personal answer so someone else may wish to add something to my answer. I do not believe that the U.S. Is making any great effort to control global warming. Some state are in the infant stages of introducing wind mill generators. The newly elected President says he is going to tackle the issue but that is a big $ investment that I do not believe we are in a position to do at this point in history due to our current economic problems. As individuals, we can make an effort by using less energy in the form of the floresant light bulbs, we can also make an attempt to use public transportation more and individual owned gas powered vehicles less. We can recycle and we can use fewer plastic bags which are a protelum based product. Another simple way to help the environment is to turn off your lights when you leave a room. I would suggest if you are truly interested that you do an internet search using the words global warming and see what you find - you will be amazed, I suspect. Other nations are passing laws that will help stop global warming but the entire world must tackle the issule and even then I think it will take years to make a real dent in the problem. Good for you for being concerned.
But you can say we need to cut down on our green house gases and the govermnent arnt doing anything to shop it but you try and give up every thing in your house that you don't need then find how hard it is to give things up when we have goten so used to the eguipment we ave now.
