Query language more-so (SQL) is a way of looking for information on a given criteria whereas tailored programs tend to have hard coded search processes. Addition to this, SQL, Oracle etc languages are tailored to the programmer not the user so during the development stages, adaptions can be made for the program and at this point it can be developed to be as efficient as the programmer can make it.
