Yes, I have had raw sugercane. It's very sweet, had it years ago.
We used to wait for it when we were kids. Being So near where it was grown it was tradition to get a giant stalk of sugar cane. The neighborhood kids would hack it up with a machete and we would chew on it all day. As you chew on it and suck the juice out it gets all stringy and ya gotta keep breaking off the ends. Its deft. More enjoyable as a child lol
It is so YUMMY! It is like chewing on a big fat stick that is full of sugary sap. In Dallas, they sometimes sell them in the grocery stores, not as much now as when I was a child. The best sugar comes from sugar cane but that is processed and granulated. If you can get real cokes or Dr. Peppers that are in the little bottles and they are made with pure cane sugar instead of corn syrup, get one. They are so much better for you. Your system does not know how to process corn syrup. Some nutritionist are blaming the introduction of corn syrup as the sweetener in so many foods as the cause of the increasing obesity in the US.
