Which dissolves more salt-hot, lukewarm, or cold water? What factor is being tested? What factor is held at constant?

More salt will dissolve in hot water.  The factor being tested is the water temperature and the factor that should stay constant is the amount of water you try to dissolve the salt in at different temperatures.  For example, you can't try to dissolve salt in 2 cups of cold water, but then try the same in 1 cup of hot water.  The water amounts must be the same.
