What will happen if the hard drive of a computer is removed and the computer is turned on?

It will turn on as normal but will only show your Bios. You can't operate any OS systems without a hard drive but everything will come on. You just can't do anything much with it. I do that sometimes when replacing a hard drive as a quick way to transfer all the info on the old drive.
