how do friction works in cricket?

I don't know what that other person who answered is talking about ... But I'm browsing science questions... Cos  im a scienctifical smarticle person And crickets rub their legs together and it makes a noise. Sciency stuff.

simple, the ground the ball rolls on causes friction on the ball slowing its forward motion. Now the amount of friction applied on the ball equals to the strength and speed in which the ball is thrown thus a faster ball first thrown will go farther than a slow ball starting out. Also the ball being forced against air will also cause friction on the ball but not quite as much as the grass will since its more physical friction here
