Why is it okay to call people of different races white, black or brown but not yellow or red?
Many years ago a friend of mine pointed to two men standing at a distance and asked me which man was taller. I said, "the black guy", who was obviously taller. She looked at me, wrinkled her nose and said, "why didn't you just say the guy on the right?" Since then, I've tried my best not to use race, color or appearance to differentiate or describe a person. I didn't realize how insensitive it was.
