Is wood a renewable or non-renewable source of energy and why?

Wood is a renewable but limited source of energy, as you would consume it faster than it is replenished. The CO2, soot and other elements released, not to mention the accompanying deforestation, also makes burning wood for energy environmentally unsound.

I heat with wood, most of which comes off my property.
