The immigration could be considered to be illegal or legal. Legal immigration has positive effects on the development of United States, especially on the economy. The immigrants entering are granted a visa on the basis of their qualities and important job assignments. It is also observed that the immigrant students are more talented and creative than the students of United States.

There are also negative effects of immigration on US economy. Immigration has created controversies regarding economic benefits, job growth, and effect on upward social mobility, nationalities, moral values and work habits. There are also issues regarding the race, religion, ethnicity, settlement patterns and levels of criminality.

Illegal immigration affects the government expenditure negatively. The government has to spend on the services used by these immigrants even they do not pay tax. The impact of illegal immigration on economy is very small as compared to other aspects of the US economy.
