The longest bon in the human body is the femur or the thigh bone while the smallest bone is the stirrup in the ear. The length of the femur can not be the same in every person because each person may have a different height and hence a different sized bone. On an average however, the femur can be around 48 centimeters or 19 inches long and has an average diameter of 2.34 centimeters. The smallest bone, the stirrup, also called stapes, in the ear is quite small and has a size of 1/10th of an inch.
