Argentina makes refference of "argentum" that in latin means, "Silver", when the spanish arrived to our coasts, they found indians who were carring silver ornaments on their bodies. The first person who used the name Argentina to refer the country, was Miguel del Barco Centenero (1535-1605) in their historical poem "Argentina o la conquista del Río de la Plata" that's means "Argentina or the conquer silver's river". Also, some historians say that Argentina takes its name from the river, that the Spaniards said, the surface shines like silver, they sailed the river when were going down goods from Potosi Silver's mine (Bolivia) to the Atlantic Ocean.
