In eukaryotes DNA is present in the nucleus of a cell. It is organized into structures which are known as chromosomes. In prokayotes DNA is present in nucleoids which are irregular in shape and present in cytoplasm. Gene is a part of DNA and contains heredity material which transfers characteristics from one generation to other generation. Moreover, in eukaryotes a small amount of DNA is also present in mitochondria and chloroplast.
