No, You can not seperate salt from water by freezing because if you freeze it, then the salt would already be mixed into the water. One way you can seperate salt from water is to boil the water, so then the water would evaporate and it leaves the salt.

I'm going to be doing a project on that exact thing. I wasn't sure either!! As soon as this 'science fair' thing is over or as soon as I know I will say!!! It shouldn't be hard. If you would like to try on your own just put an amount of salt into the water stir than freeze. When frozen wipe off any little pieces that might be on the top then take the water that is left when you have finished melting. I hope that you will find out, but if you find out before please blog it so I can know and not have to do as much work!!

First you must put some salt in an ice tray.next you must stirr.then you must put it in the freezer until is half way frozen.you also hae to pull the extra water off thr ice.now you have to it melt so you can taste it to see if it is de-salted.now since it is a survey you have to have other people to taste it.

The manner in which you have posed your question is very confusing.

Salt (commonly NaCl) will dissociate in water which is not frozen as both H2O and NaCl are both polar, therefore NaCl will dissociate in water whether or not the water is frozen. This is why you use common rock salt in the winter on ice covered roads and sidewalks or on your front door step in the winter.

In either organic chemistry or inorganic chemistry you separate by boiling points, in this case you would boil the water to evaporate the water leaving NaCl.
