The effects of cutting down trees are various. In most cases cutting down a tree(s) reduces oxygen levels as well as habitat for wild animals. For example the most airborne animal is the bird.

It also effects the soil by microbes contained in the soil are taken up by the trees and are needed for balance in the ecosystem.  Also, the soil is enriched by what animals drop, when they eat the fruit of the trees and it also takes away their homes.

The effects of cutting down trees is that it releases carbon dioxide into the air which of course means less oxygen (the greenhouse effect occurs).  Also, animals lose their homes. If you use "slash and burn" it will destroy the land etc

Cutting down trees has a devastating effect on soil. Trees act as strong foundations for the soil. And soil remains in place because of trees as they are not exposed to the harsh weather conditions. When trees are cut, the soil becomes exposed to everything that is going on around. When it rains, the water takes the upper layer of soil with it. And causes soil erosion. Also the minerals and nutrients in the soil are taken away by it and the land becomes infertile.

It affects animals in many ways. But the most common ways are it takes away there shelter and it takes away there food. Animals like deer use trees for food. They also use it for shelter and for places to hide from there predators.

Trees are a renewable resource and have been used as building material, fuel, and food  since the beginning of time. We will continue to be cutting trees for many purposes for years to come. As long as they are replanted and only cut in a responsible manner, it will be fine. Trees do produce oxygen and absorb carbon monoxide, but so does grass, plants, and even moss and algae. In case you didn't know, 5000 sq. Ft. Of grass will produce as much oxygen as two 100 ft. Tall trees. An area of 650 sq. Ft of grass will produce the daily oxygen needs for one adult. The website, Lawn Care Academy, has a page on the benefits of grass, including how much oxygen it produces.

In areas like the Amazon Rain Forest, tremendous amounts of oxygen is produced. This is because of the year around growth and thick jungle environment. The second greatest amount of oxygen is produce by pine trees along the northern Canadian territories that stretch from Canada to Siberia. This area is different because it is cold with few inhabitants. We will never run out of oxygen, so don't listen to all the hype of politically correct broadcasts or textbooks.

It also depends on how many trees are cut and where they are located. Trees on the banks of rivers hold the bank together. Trees add beauty, stabilize the soil, and are home for animals. Plant a tree in your yard and watch it grow.

Hope it helps.

Cutting down large tracts of forest and using the wood for other purposes, releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which is one of the main gases contributing to global warming. Trees take in carbon dioxide and in effect store it in the wood as they grow. So forests act as carbon storage.

The effect of cutting down trees is the green house effect where the carbon dixiode will get trapped in the atmosphere, it takes away the homes of many plants and animals, deforestion which has led to the loss of hundreds of thousands of different species of plants, animals and plants and less oxygen is been put into the air.

The exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen will be pushed to one side, causing most of the air to be filled with carbon dioxide

Clever question! The answer is NONE. Our overall climate is controlled by two things: The sun and the ocean. The oceans and the algae contained in it, are also the primary source of our oxygen.

Your liberal teacher will give you an F if you use this very correct answer.
