An atom is divided into sub-particles including electrons, protons and neutrons. Neutrons are neutral and have no charge on them. On the other hand, protons are positively charged particles and electrons have negative charge. Neutrons do not affect the neutrality of an atom. The isotopes of an element have same number of electrons and protons but have different number of neutrons. Moreover, the chemical properties of an atom are not affected by neutrons.
