Two hundred years ago the Rainforest covered eight million sq. Miles of the worlds surface (1/5 of Earth’s surface). More than half of this forest has been burned, bulldozed, or cut down. Now only 3.4 million sq. Miles remain. Every second of every day 2.47 acres are cut down (about the size of two football fields). It is believed that more than one hundred animals and plants become extinct each week.
