The highest temperature ever recorded in the UK, was 38.1 degrees Celsius, recorded in Gravesend in Kent (what a name) and this was in the long and VERY hot summer of 2003.

The lowest temperature ever recorded in the UK, was 27.2°Celsius, recorded in Braemar, Grampian on both 10 January 1982 and 11 February 1895 (or is it supposed to be 1985?), this was equalled in 1995 by Altnaharra in the Highlands on the 30th December that year.

The highest temperature ever recorded in the world was in Death Valley in the United States of America. The national weather service recorded 56.7 °Celsius, reported on July the 10th, 1913. Warm!

The lowest temperature ever recorded in the world was in Vostok on July 21st in 1983, which recorded a temperature of MINUS eighty nine degrees. Oh MY.

With global warming, it is thought that this year, 2007 might beat all records for temperature highs in the UK.

2007 was a wet and boring summer that didnt do anything to break any records, but 2009 is meant to break a few with the highest temperatures on the east and south east because of the predicted warmer fronts

Just this year Summer 2009, Philippines had 40C and it is tremendously warm to the point wherein your bodies basal metabolic rate would probably lower down to compensate with high pressured area the southeast asian environment have.

Who ever mentioned Summer 2009 breaking records with high temperatures was way, WAY off the mark!  How cold will it get this winter I wonder?

Aside for the so-called "official" highest UK temperature in 2003, it certainly got to 40C in Manchester at least on one occasion.
