Sodium chloride is a neutral substance. A salt is made up from a metal and non-metal. Sodium chloride is consist of two particles including sodium ion and chloride ion. Sodium chloride is formed when sodium hydroxide reacts with hydrochloric acid. Sodium hydroxide is a base and hydrochloric acid is an acid. The process of formation of sodium chloride salt is a neutralization process because during this reaction acid and base neutralize each other.
