-Your heart rate increases
-Your blood starts flowing faster
-Your muscles start burning energy (calories)
-This creates heat
-So you start sweating
-Your metabolism increases because you are burning energy

Your endocrine system releases endorphins into your system which makes you feel elevated and gives you the mental stamina you need to complete the exercise.

All of this together oxygenates the body's cells (from more rapid breathing), and causes you to lose weight.
