Water will enter the cell causing it to swell tight. A wall (tugor) pressure is generated when enough water has been taken up to cause the cell continue to press against the cell wall. Tugor pressure rises until it offsets further net influx of water into the cell (the cell is turgid). The ridgid cell wall will prevents cell rupture
