It has been argued that society doesn't really exist; for example the UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher once said there was no society, only individual people and families. However, most people would agree this is not a very helpful view as society is organized way beyond the family and at the least we have citizens, government, the law etc. There is a good Facebook discussion about this which yuo could join.
