Christmas trees are usually evergreen, which means that they stay green all year long.

Why Do Christmas Trees Lose Their Needles?
Usually, it's because you've bought a tree without roots.

We all know what it's like to spend January treading pine-needles into the carpet and picking them out of your socks. This is an even bigger problem if you buy a tree which has been cut!

Living trees don't shed their needles anywhere near as quickly as dead ones, so they're a lot nicer to have in the house.

Plastic Trees
If you want a tree that won't shed at all, your best bet is to buy a plastic one. Some plastic trees actually look pretty realistic, and you can re-use them year after year. They're also better for the environment!

No coniferous trees other than the Western Larch shed their leaves. Although, as these trees dry out, they do start losing their needles.
