I just had this problem and didn't know how to turn the pump back on. After waiting a couple of hours for the well to replenish I still had no water. I discovered I needed to restart the pump (submersible) by pulling up the pressure switch located on a small gray plastic box attached to my pressure tank. You need to pull up this little metal rod on the box until the pressure reaches 20 psi. The replay is late but I hope this helps someone in the future!

Could be that your pump at the bottom of the well was hit by lightning. If this happened, it'll cost you approx.1,500 to repair unless you know someone with an upsdaisy and the knowledge to replace the pump. To find out if your pump was damaged, ohm out the windings, check the amp draw at the well tank where the wires come in. If you have a shallow well und use a jet pump, it my need priming.
