This question is kind of strange - if you are talking about breathing (for example), what doesn't have to happen for you to stop is inhaling oxygen. Basically, this sort of question could be applied to a million different situations and scenarios...from driving to eating, to whatever else your imagination can dream up. So, there is really not enough detail to answer your question precisely.

If you're driving, you don't have to stop holding the steering wheel to stop the car - all you need to do is tap, or hit, the brake pedal with your foot. Driving is one activity that requires expert stopping. Without knowing how to stop the car properly, you could get in plenty of accidents - some of which could be very serious. If you don't know exactly how to stop a moving car, you need driving lessons from a trained driving instructor, and maybe some one-on-one time with an expert driver in your family, or your own circle of friends.

  • Stopping bad habits

Sometimes, we have to stop to change - for example, with bad habits, such as addiction or negative thinking (that may lead to depression), it's really best to take action and change the processes in our minds and bodies. However, with addiction and mental health issues, help is sometimes needed to stop the bad thoughts and actions from happening. If you need help stopping something bad that you do, you need to reach out to friends, or to a helper or therapist in your own community.

To learn more about any topic related to stopping and how stopping occurs, read a book on physics, or what have you. Physics is the science of physical forces in the universe, so it might answer your question. If it doesn't, there's bound to be a book in the local library that does give you a lot of insight into your particular issue or situation.
