Why use the gate in thyristor ,because current flows through anode to gate only...in diode current flows anode to cathode...

Thyristors are essentially a diode which has to be "switched on". Unlike diodes they do not conduct electricity until a voltage is applied to the gate. After that they conduct (but in one direction only).
