Every individual will be effected differently and at varying degrees. Armed robbery is a traumatizing event to happen to someone. The many emotions that you would go through during the ordeal could leave lifetime effects. The fear of the unknown becomes magnified. You don't know who to trust or to suspect. Post traumatic syndrome is a serious condition and those that go through an experience like that should be offered crisis counseling.
I have been robbed before. This has made me more aware of possible situations that could make me a victim again.
Well you become aware of situations more, mentally you become incapable of trusting, I hear this a lot. But you don't always have to make a bad memory worse, make it as though what goes around comes around, person probably died with same gun or knife he threatened you with, his friend got tired during the night because he slept with his girl friend, and later in life you fell in love with the same dude that killed your boy. You'll be just fine. Just remember to never cheat on him.
