Cyclothymia is a mood disorder and is a mild form of bipolar II disorder. Cause of this disorder is controversial because biological evidences suggest that it is a mood disorder and genetic research support that it is inherited but not always because 30% of the affected people have family history of bipolar I disorder. Along with genetic factors, psychological factors like living conditions, interpersonal difficulties and stress also play their role in the development of cyclothymia.
