We have a family of three, we on average keep our house at 60 degrees while at work but we set our thermostat to 72 about 1 hour before we arrive home from work, ( no sense wasting all of the heat on the furniture). Our propane supplies heat and hot water only... Cooking(electric) and drying clothes(electric). From Dec 20th to Feb 1st we used approx. 150 gallons for a 2400 sq ft house. ( we have a little space heater in our daughters rm which we keep at 72 to 74 degrees at night) . I hope this helps!

My house is about the same , run a pellet stove 90% of the time which heats downstairs and some of upstairs , from nov 13 to jan 16 we used 290 gallons---we use propane for everything though, cooking ,dryer, hot water

That depends on where you live.  In Dallas we fill our 500 gallon tank once a year.  It is used for hot water and heating but a friend of mine who lives close to Chicago fills his 1000 gallon tank 2 to 3 times a year.

We live in a 4400 square foot house in NC, we filled the tank with 100 gallons, cost $306. And it lasted for 20 (twenty) days. We did not take many baths at home because we are a member of a club and I did not use the gas oven, instead used a toaster oven--it seems out outrageous so now I refuse to buy any more and am using small electric heaters, one upstairs and one down.
