Reed pens were made back in Egyption times,over 2,000 years ago. They were used for writing on papyrus. Reed pens were eventually replaced, by the longer lasting quill pens, made from the feathers of large birds.

The ancient Egyptian used reeds [reed pens] at the same time as they invented paper. About 6,000 years ago, in 4000BC and these creative people used them to write and draw on papyrus [paper].
