Depending on the damage that is on the plant or what it was caused from. Most of the times when the cut or nick is small enough yes it will heal itself. Sometimes you will need to either cut the bad part out or do some bandaging of the plant like you would yourself and let it heal. For the most part as long as it is not major injury plants and trees both can heal themselves.
