I had very high hopes, until the Obama administration slashed NASA's budget, canceling the projected Moon revisit and the Constellation Program. I still believe that Man will revisit the Moon though. It is too great of an opportunity to pass up, especially from a militaristic standpoint. I could foresee a revisit in my lifetime, but I think it will become more realistic after new propulsion technologies become available. As it stands with current rocket propulsion, it costs millions of dollars just to send one gram of weight into orbit.
Honestly, it was kind of a miracle that we ever got to the Moon in the first place. The computing power of the Apollo rockets is exceeded by modern calculators. There were much more tangible and horrifying threats to the country that the NASA budget could have been spent on. I think we would need another Cold War to get back to the Moon, or even to Mars. But like I said, I am optimistic.
Sadly, no. I think the next space hurdle might be Mars. Even a Mars landing is a long shot with everything that must be overcome for a long space journey.
Not the way things look now. As far as the United States going back there is no money because our politicians have found too many other ways to waste it.
Assuming we went there in the first place we will go back again.
Not any time soon and not in the hurry we should be going. I really think humanity is doomed to die on this planet when we need to be out trying to find other inhabitable places as soon as possible. Not because I think doom is looming, but why wait until the last minute ya know :)
Why bother it's a reflection..where you get a trophy for having another look at one of the bell ends of the earth. We should spend our time producing and producing so that more people can enjoy a different side of the bell shape of the earth.
Yes i do willlielad, i think that they will want more tests on it to see if anything that has made a crater has come from a planet that can sustain life.
