A pulley is a simple machine which is made with a rope or a chain wrapped around a wheel.
There are three main types of pulleys:
1.) A fixed pulley is the one which uses more effort than the load to lift the load. Hence the disadvantage is that you need to apply more effort than the load.
2.) A movable pulley moves with the load. The disadvantage of a movable pulley is that you need to pull or push the pulley up or down for carrying the load.
3.) A combined pulley takes less effort required to lift the load compared to the weight of the load. However, the disadvantage is it travels a long distance.
