A formula of kinematics.

V^2 = Vo^2 + 2ax ( initial velocity falls out of equation )

Change 80 km/hr (1000 meters/1 km)(ihr/3600 s)

= 22.22 m/s

------

(22.22 m/s)^2 = 2( 7.5 m/s^2)X

X = 493.7284/15

= 32.9 meters

======( close, but the old man lives! )
